Heat Exchangers

Flamering Machines and Tools (FMT) has been manufacturing Shell and Tube heat exchangers for more than three decades. Our experience, reputation and understanding of detailed heat transfer and fluid flow phenomena is unmatched by any other regional manufacturer.

FMT’s Flamingo Series heat exchangers were the first to incorporate the aluminum star insert (turbulators) and integrally finned tube technology. We have been continuously upgrading our technology to international standards.  Sophisticated designs with larger surfaces have been developed to offer customers more efficient solutions to their heat exchanging problems.

Flamingo utilizes turbulators to improve the performance of its Shell & Tube Exchangers. Turbulators are twisted tape static mixers installed in the exchanger tubes.

Turbulators Benefits & Features
  • Improved overall Heat Transfer Rate. Heat Transfer Coefficients improve approximately three to five times than that of open tubes.
  • Economical way to upgrade performance of an existing exchanger.
  • Reduce the required size of new exchanger.
  • Converts laminar flow to turbulent flow.
  • Continuous self-cleaning swirling motion reduces fouling, film build-up, and costly downtime.
  • Constant mixing keeps fluid at a uniform temperature, reducing gradients which may lead to thermal breakdown.

Our exchangers are fabricated in accordance with ASME Section VIII Div. 1 or Div.2 , as well as TEMA standards.

Evaporators

  • Ruggedly built shell and tube direct expansion (DX) evaporators are constructed using the Aluminum star insert technology by means of an extended internal refrigeration surface.
  • The Aluminum Star insert technology allows for more extended surface area and higher turbulence thus enhancing the performance and efficiency of the evaporators.
  • FMT evaporators effect more net refrigeration per linear foot than any available evaporators today.
  • Evaporators are multi pass on gas side with one circuit of chilled water and are fitted with a ½” vent, drain plug and freeze bulb well to facilitate fitting with a thermostat.
  • The DX evaporators are suitable for R-22 and CFC free gasses like R134a/R407C/R404a.
  • For Ammonia (R717) applications, the evaporators are built with seamless steel tubes confirming to ASME-179.
  • The evaporators are insulated with chemically cross linked cell polyethylene foam (XLPE).
  • The top layer f the insulation has aluminum film coated for safety of ingress of foreign material.

Condensers

  • Shell & Tube cleanable water cooled condensers employ the latest development in high efficiency condenser tubes.
  • All models are designed for use with R-22, R407C, R404A, and R134a.
  • Special  condensers for R-717 (Ammonia)
  • Multi pass with adequate pump down capacity
  • Removable headers that are also interchangeable
  • DHP copper/A-179 tubes, which are integrally finned with 26 fins/inch having height of 1.5 mm
  • Tubes are removable and cleanable and are roll expanded into tube sheets
  • Purge valve of ¼”, safety valve (factory set at 400 psi) and liquid drain connections are standard with each condenser.
